Going Organic

Given my efforts in transforming my backyard into a garden when I retired, I decided to make better use of the space rather than keeping the pool around. All the kids have moved out and I have the convenience of focusing on doing the things I enjoy, one of which happens to be gardening. I have been using artificial fertilizers for a few months, until I came across the hazards of using the same.

I decided to go for natural and find better ways of utilizing kitchen scraps in my home. I got myself an Earthcare compost tumbler so I can start on with the shift. So far, I see no difference in making use of natural compost with fertilizers which I would need to purchase. Not only do I get to save money, I also need not work with materials which can be harmful for me and the environment.

Off To The Market

In our community we have a weekend market where farmers in our area would offer and sell their organic produce. This has been an ongoing market for many years now. I have been buying these produce from them ever since they started. I love buying from them since I know that they are very fresh and that I am able to help our local farmers from earning from their products.

Whenever I go to the weekend market I would make it a point to bring my Kent Westport Tricycle with me. This is perfect since there would be limited spaces available where we can park our cars, and it is convenient since my Kent Westport Tricycle has a basket in it. After going shopping I would end up piling the entire basket with fresh organic produce. These things are perfect for the meals which I prepare for my family.

Great Harvest

In order to source out the freshest menu which I whip up for my customers in my restaurant, I always make it a point to sign up for Pennnsylvania CSA Shares. These programs are the answer to my need in making sure that I only get to serve fabulous food in my own restaurant, something I have always dreamt of ever since I was a little girl. This way, those who dine in my place would know they only place items in their mouths from farms which have directly sent me the ingredients right after they are picked.

For any perfect dish, the foundation happens to be the ingredients which are found in the food. This is why it is important for me to make use of the freshest options all the time. I cannot deal with having to settle for what is left. I always need to get the best. This is my belief as a true blue chef and believer that there is more to food than simply allowing a person to survive.

Flow of Landfills

These days, there have been serious talks and concerns regarding the increasing waste found and further dumped in landfills. This is the reason why there have been campaigns which aims to inform people on the things they can do in order to reduce the amount of waste being thrown in these locations. If everyone would act upon it, then there will be a significant difference on the amount of materials ending up on bum piles.

Individuals can help reduce further flow of trash to landfills by engaging in backyard composting. This way, organic matter can be infused with backyard soil which can benefit the latter from containing the necessary nutrients and minerals for the benefit of the plants located in the garden. Yard trimmings and kitchen scraps are good examples of these materials which can be buried in one’s backyard.

Relaxing Atmosphere

During the weekends, I make sure that I find the time to read one of the books I have yet to read from my recently purchased batch. For me, reading is the best way to unwind. Reading helps me forget about my troubles and get to be transported in a whole new place. This way, I can forget anything related to work and the deadlines which go with it.

Aside from the great lounge outdoor furniture I have, I also got myself one of those solar cascade water fountains. This is perfect to create the perfect atmosphere for tranquility and relaxation. This is the ideal space for someone like me who would need to unwind and forget about anything else but myself. Nothing beats a home with all the perks to enjoy a quiet weekend all alone.

Year Round

As a garden enthusiast I would often be left frustrated and sad once the winter season comes in and I would be left with nothing but dead plants. I have worked so hard to maintain all my plants only to be gone during this season. It can be quite hard for you to accept this especially when you spend a lot of your time each day just to maintain great looking plants.

This is the reason why I opted to build my own indoor garden instead. This way, I need not worry about the various temperature and weather conditions outside, and I can have better control of the surroundings for my plants to grow continuously year round. This is the perfect solution to my problem. All I need are equipment such as a Hydrofarm 125-watt fluorescent grow light system and I am ready to go. This way, I need not be frustrated should the winter season start.

Reliable Lighting

I have always loved to have a garden in my home. When we moved in a new house a few years back and saw the space available in the backyard, I immediately knew I wanted to convert this into my own garden. As a full time mother and housewife, I knew this would help me kill time while I wait for my family to come home. I have always envisioned myself to be like those wives in movies which perfectly manages the household and spend most of their time gardening.

My husband also finds the same spot as relaxing as I do. He would usually come home from work very tired and would want to have a glass of wine and sit back for a while before he heads upstairs to sleep. At night, we turn on our solar powered garden lights in order to illuminate the entire space. This way both of us can have a night cap and enjoy our wonderful yard to ourselves.

Easy Set-Up

For homeowners, we would want to be able to ensure that our homes are in their best condition and state. Owners would also try their best to make sure that their homes are looking great with furnishings and decorations they can easily purchase from the market. Aside from interior improvements, there are those who also make the effort to beautify their yards by transforming them into wonderful gardens.

There are many ways by which one can go about this garden project. For practical homeowners, they can opt to make use of backyard greenhouse kits instead of having to hire contractors or landscaping experts to do their gardens for them. It is more cost efficient to make use of kits to save on labor costs. It is also much more rewarding to do everything by themselves. There is a certain sense of accomplishment when guests compliment the way the house has been beautifully transformed.

No To Synthetic

These days, healthy eating has been the choice for many individuals. There are certain processes and food items which are said to be probable causes of certain illnesses and diseases such as cancer. People are more conscious about what they put in their mouth. They would want to make sure that they get to eat not only the most delicious but also the healthiest items they can get.

For those who are conscious about what they eat, they prefer items which are organically grown. Organic gardening is the best option in order to prevent the risks of various diseases and illnesses. They say you are what you eat, and when you choose something which is naturally grown and produced, then you can be assured that you are healthy too.

New Home

After finally moving into a brand new home, I have been busying myself in trying to make the place according to how we want it. The style and theme of the house was made to suit the previous owner’s preferences, and we needed to find ways in order to make it more like our home. Aside from the enhancements in the interiors, we also converted the backyard into a garden where we can produce our own vegetables.

The garden project was something I was particularly excited about, having wanted to have my very own garden for a long time. I bought a compost tumbler to be able to enhance the current garden soil we have. This way I can be sure that the ground has all the right nutrients needed by the plants I am planning to grow in my backyard. In time, my whole family will be able to enjoy the produce provided for by our backyard garden.
